What is Small Business Relief?
Eligible Resident Businesses with annual revenue of AED 3 million or less may elect to be treated as having no taxable income for the relevant tax period. While Corporate Tax registration and filing obligations still apply, eligible businesses won't pay Corporate Tax for that period if they meet the relevant conditions.
What does this mean for businesses?
The extension provides greater certainty for many SMEs, reducing the compliance burden while allowing business owners to focus on growth. However, it's important to remember that:
- Small Business Relief is not automatic. It must be elected in your Corporate Tax Return
- Corporate Tax registration and filing obligations still apply.
- Accurate financial records remain essential.
Whether or not you're eligible for the relief, the businesses that perform best over the long term are those that use their financial information as a management tool, not simply a compliance requirement. Having clear visibility over your business’s financial performance enables better decisions around cash flow, pricing, profitability, hiring and future growth. Small Business Relief provides valuable breathing room, but it's also an opportunity to strengthen the foundations of your business for the future.
If you're unsure whether your business qualifies, or you'd like to discuss what this announcement means for your business, our team would be happy to help.
